Yoga for Holiday Stress

It can feel like a busy time as we wrap up the year and have holiday activities.

Try this mudra (hand yoga) and mantra (self-talk yoga) to keep you calm and centered. It only takes a few seconds.

Mudra: Join your hands like prayer position, but leave a little space as if you’d caught a firefly or a cricket. The mudra represents leaving a little space in your life, space in each day, to breathe, to be alone, to go outside. Leave some white space in your calendar and don’t plan out every minute.

Mantra: “It’s safe for me to just be.”

In any day, you might have a moment in which you’re waiting for something, or you’re in traffic, or you’re ready for the next part of your day, but it’s not flowing. Instead of feeling stuck, recognize that this is the quiet moment you’ve been craving.

It’s safe for me to just be.

Take a breath, enjoy the moment, be present. That’s the opportunity for the white space and free time.

You don’t have to be in a perfect environment of peace and quiet. You can create it inside.
